AGILITY PLUS (& Intro to other dog sports) BRAND NEW CLASS!!

This class will offer you and your dog a great foundation as well as a fun introduction to some of the most popular dog sports today like agility, flyball, disc dog, dock jumping, and canine freestyle.

This is a great WINTER class while the snow flies outside to explore what sport you two would like to pursue in the future!!

Sports will be introduced using a balance of motivational play, confidence building exercises, and impulse control games to create a a great relationship between you and your pooch. Class work will cover: introduction to clicker/marker training, how to reward your dog, the proper way to tug, using play to build enthusiasm for training, building a recall and retrieve through games, and finally teaching impulse control (like “stay”, “go to your crate” and “leave it”) in a fun and positive way.

In addition, the dogs will be introduced to contact equipment, along with tunnels, jumps, chutes, and a flyball box. Your pooch needs to have at least one obedience class under it's belt:)

Beginning Canine Freestyle II~~~NEW CLASS!!

Beginning Canine Freestyle II is a fun and challenging way to showcase your dog's obedience skills and tricks by setting them to music. Human students in this class should already be experienced in using clicker/verbal mark training; in this class, a dog's 'mistake' might be the beginning of a great new move, so expect to stretch your observation, timing, capturing and shaping skills. This is a 90 minute class for handlers who are working on Beginner level freestyle performance skills with their dogs.
This class builds on previous Beginning Freestyle class, but new class members welcome if the handler has some familiarity with freestyle and with teaching tricks and obedience behaviors. Your dog should be dog friendly, have Canine Good Citizen level skills or better and be able to rest quietly in a crate or on a mat while not working. Rally, competition obedience or agility experience is a plus. Dogs should attend class wearing a buckle or martingale collar or a harness. Plan to bring a crate to each class.

Puppy Foundation AGILITY

Builds foundation skills for agility. Puppy and handler will develop basic agility station familiarity and build puppies confidence. This class, like all here at Pawsitive, has an objective of your dog having 'fun' and learning at the same time. Whether competition is in your future or not, this is a great first step for your younger dog. There will be no jumping in this class, due to the young age of the dogs. Pups 3 months to 1 year eligible for this class.

A.K.C.~S.T.A.R. PUPPY OBEDIENCE

Start your puppy out right with exercises, fun and games that teach important skills. Designed for puppies up to and including 5 months old. This class covers socialization and confidence building, household manners and beginning obedience skills. We will go over, 'sit', 'stay', 'down'', 'leave it', 'and start walking on a loose lead, among other skills like working on not jumping and not being mouthy while taking treats. Puppies must have received at least their second set of shots, Bordetella (a.k.a. Kennel Cough) vaccine and a negative Fecal float. We will be testing for our S.T.A.R. Puppy for all dogs less than a year old! One hour per week for six weeks, $115 course fee.

Conformation for the Show Ring

Work with your dog to hand-stack, free-stack, bait, gait & ring procedures in preparation to show your dog. This class is for beginning handlers and/or first-time Conformation dogs and to get some experience for your dog in the Conformation exercises and to the judges touch.

Advanced Rally (AKC)

Go off lead in Rally; learn new exercises and build your teamwork. This class is for dogs and handlers who have taken Intro to Rally or who have Rally Novice/Level 1 ring experience. Exercises for Advanced AKC, Level 2 UKC and Level 1 and 2 APDT Rally will be sampled. Excellent/Level 3 exercises may also be explored, depending on class make up. Intro to Rally (AKC)

Rally is a new fast growing obedience sport; a great activity where family dogs and aspiring dog athletes can show off their obedience skills. Take your training skills and teamwork to the next level and learn to maneuver through a Novice/Level 1 Rally course performing 12-15 different obedience exercises along the way. It's fast, challenging and fun! This session, class taught indoors and outdoors, weather permitting:) One hour per week for six weeks, $115.

Basic Obedience

Learn how to teach essential obedience (sit, lay down, stay, walk on loose leash among others) and self-control skills to your dog and to solve common household behavior problems with reward based techniques. Designed for owners dogs that have never been trained formally, that have never trained with you (new owner) or that need a refresher course to prepare for advanced studies and sports. Recommended age of dog for this classWe will be testing for our S.T.A.R. Puppy certification for all dogs less than a year old! One hour per week for six weeks, $115. Intermediate AKC~CGC Obedience

Build on your basic training skills and help your dog gain even more confidence, responsiveness, self-control and good manners. Your dog should have had a Puppy or Basic obedience class before or equivalent skills prior to enrolling for this class. We'll work to improve handler skills, loose-leash walking, recalls, stays and attention and to solve common self control problems. AKC Canine Good Citizen Test given the last class session. This class is repeatable; many dogs and owners benefit from continuing Intermediate level classes as adolescent dogs mature. One hour per week for six weeks, $115.

You enroll on-line, then what? Read below for the flow between enrolling and start of class.

FIRST STEP: Enroll on-line, you will get a confirmation email. This will 'reserve' a spot in class for you.
SECOND STEP: Forward necessary vet records: (records must be received and all vaccines verfied at least one to two weeks before start of class keep your spot)
1. Proof of Rabies Vaccine (possible exception, puppies, may not be able to be given yet due to age or weight per vet)
2. Proof of regular shots (i.e. DHLPP or similar)
3. Proof of Bordetella Vaccine (also known as Kennel Cough vaccine) current within a year
4. Negative fecal float, current within a year (this might have to be written in by your vet, not always printed on records)

SECOND STEP PART B:
Mail class fee (we accept check or cash) to address above. When payment is received, (needed 2 weeks before start of class~exceptions can me made last minute:) your spot is 'confirmed'.
You will get a confirmation that materials were received and sent a reminder before class starts. Please do check you 'junk' or 'spam' mail hence our email sometimes ends up there.
"Obedience Classes and any of our SPORTS classes>> If you are a new student with Pawsitive Canine, we may invite you to bring your dog to a pre-class evaluation to get to know you and make sure your dog is ready for the challenges of an group classes."

We ask that you bring your dog to our obedience classes with a harness, Halti, Gentle Leader, or flat collar (as opposed to a prong or choke collar), a 4 or 6 foot leash (as opposed to a flexi or retractable-lead) and a lot of his/her favorite tiny, soft treats, no bigger than a pencil eraser (string cheese and hot dogs seem to be a 'hit' with most dogs).
